#13: Panthers QB Cam Newton, challenged to rap battle at Opening Night, spits fire (video)| The Charlotte Observer

Among the many oddities at Super Bowl Opening Night was a man challenging Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to a rap battle.

Newton fancies himself a good freestyle rapper, so on the spot he fired back on the man.

The man, who did not identify himself, had a pre-packaged rap for Newton that included lines like losing to Atlanta and stealing the dab from Atlanta, which, as a Panthers player, makes him a “copycat.”

Given the mic, Newton spit fire.

“OK you’re talkin’ about my dab, you’re talkin’ about my flow, but it’s one thing that you need to know/

Even though you a good fellow, I don’t think you got swag cause you’re shirt is yellow/

It should have been Carolina blue, somethin’ that you shoulda thought, somethin’ that you shoulda knew/

We’re chillin’ at the Super Bowl with a lot of media, man I hate talking to the media/

But it’s all good and great. Man I look at the team, man them boys straight/

I’m straight outta College Park by way of Atlanta, you could see the towel on my head some people call it a bandana/

I’m chillin, I’m flowin, havin a good time, but everybody worried about me. Don’t worry about mine/

’Cause I keep talking, I keep flowing and I’m doing what I do. Everybody need to know about the Carolina blue.”
